New England Journal of Medicine Reports Substandard Medical Care in U.S. Widespread
According to an article published on March 17, 2006 in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, substandard medical care in the United States is not limited to lower socio-economic groups but is widespread throughout the general population. The article concludes that substandard care is systemic throughout the United States and encompasses metropolitan as well as rural areas, the rich as well as the poor. Instead of directing efforts only to lower socio-economic groups, resources would be better applied to improving medical care as a whole.
